What can I expect in my first session?
Your first session is all about getting to know each other. We'll talk about what brings you to therapy, your goals, and any other concerns you may have. I'll ask some general questions about your background, experiences and what you hope to gain from therapy. This session is also a chance for you to ask questions and get a feel for how we'll work together. There's no pressure to share everything all at once! Therapy moves at your pace, and my goal is to create a safe, supportive space for you.
How long does a typical therapy session last?
Typical sessions last anywhere between 45-60 minutes.
How often should I come to therapy?
The frequency of sessions depends on your individual needs and goals. Many clients start with weekly sessions to build trust and establish onward momentum. As progress is made toward their goals, they may choose to transition to biweekly or monthly sessions. We can discuss what feels right for you and adjust as needed based on your comfort level and personal growth.
Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?
I offer both! Therapy can be done in my office or virtually.
Do you accept insurance?
I am currently able to take Blue Cross Blue Shield and Anthem plans, as well as some Medicaid insurance.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes! Confidentiality is a fundamental part of therapy. What you share in sessions stays between us, creating a safe and private space for you to express yourself freely. I take confidentiality very seriously and follow all professional and legal guidelines to protect your privacy.
Are there any situations where confidentiality may be broken?
While therapy is confidential, there are a few legal and ethical exceptions where I may be required to break confidentiality. This includes: if you express intent to harm yourself or someone else, if there is suspected abuse or neglect of a child or dependent adult, or if I receive a court order requiring the release of records. If any of these situations arise, I will always do my best to discuss them with you first and explore options together. My priority is to ensure your safety and well-being while maintaining as much privacy as possible.
How do I schedule an appointment?
The quickest way to get a hold of me is direct email. Due to the nature of being in and out of sessions, it may be hard for me to answer a phone call. I will of course return any form of contact as soon as I can!
